Educational Humane Society Article Hello students of East Hamilton!! I’m Tina Astacio from Eye of the Storm Newspaper here to bring you the news on the Hurricane Harvey dogs and cats.

The Educational Humane Society has been taking in dogs from Hurricane Harvey and now recently Hurricane Irma. They are in desperate need for donations, volunteers, and also people willing to foster these new animals. Adoptions for dogs are $85 and $25 for cats (this includes up to date shots, vaccinations, and spay or neuter). I am a recent volunteer there and have seen for myself the desperate need that the Educational Humane Society has for volunteers and fostering especially. Their mission is to provide a safe haven for homeless, injured, abused, and neglected animals in our community and advocate on their behalf. This organization has a low-kill rate (compared to the McKamy Animal Shelter) so your donations and support would be for a good cause. Helping out with this need would be a great way of performing community service as well as getting volunteer experience. Your help is needed and beneficial to this organization, there is always a job for someone to do. In the words of Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Don’t sit back and wait for the change, but create the outcome you want to see happen.

Let us East Hamilton students show our Hurricane spirit by helping out the community during this trying time. We can come together as an East Hamilton union and showcase our support through being a part of helping out (however small or large) with this matter. If you have any questions or would like to get any more information on this, flyers will be posted around the school or you can also contact the Educational Humane Society by the link and phone number below.
